Clean hydrogen is the key to energy transition in Europe

Claind continues its commitment with the European Clean Hydrogen Alliance

The goal is sustainability, to drastically reduce carbon dioxide and to fight climate change.

To be more sustainable, we don't need words, but concrete actions. For this reason, Claind, the Como-based company that manufactures hydrogen generators, continues its commitment in this direction.

"It is a path dictated by common sense, but also by a strong ethical sense that the company wants to represent in a significant way," says Nicola Tunesi, Sales & Marketing Director at CLAIND Srl. "On the other hand, all clean hydrogen technologies, through electrolysis, can greatly help to achieve this goal, provided that this becomes a reality in our daily lives".

The Clean Hydrogen Partnership was established for this very purpose: to promote investment, stimulate the widespread production and use of clean hydrogen and accelerate the decarbonisation of the industry in line with its climate change goals.

In fact, the European Union recently passed ambitious legislation to urgently tackle climate change and environmental degradation. The European Commission has published its 'Fit for 55' package, which sets a legally binding target to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the EU by at least 55% by 2030. And a target of zero emissions by 2050 was adopted as part of the European Green Deal.

In mid-2020, the European Community published a strategy for hydrogen"for a climate-neutral Europe", setting out a roadmap for the large-scale implementation of this technology and highlighting its potential for economic growth and job creation.

In short, very soon we will see clean hydrogen integrated even more into our lives. And it will be a compulsory choice. The strategy found that hydrogen is a "key priority" for achieving the Green Deal and predicted that it could make up to 14% of the EU's energy mix by 2050, up from 2% today.

It is therefore not surprising that the European Union itself is investing 1 billion in the Clean Hydrogen Partnership to accelerate technology breakthroughs. Working with international and European stakeholders, the partnership will strengthen the competitiveness of the hydrogen value chain and accelerate the market entry of companies with innovative solutions.

Claind has already strengthened its research asset, providing a solid foundation to facilitate a further step forward with research and development.

"Europe," concludes Tunesi, "is a leader in electrolysis technologies, an integral component for the separation of hydrogen from water. Moreover, no other country in the world has as many patents or publications on this topic as Europe. This alliance is continuing to grow and as it gains importance in the energy transition, the Clean Hydrogen Partnership will play an important role in promoting these technologies and realising their potential by bringing them into our daily lives".
